The annual International Charity Bazaar (ICB) took place at the Printworks, Dublin Castle on the 19th November, 2017. Kenya holds the Chair for ICB with Mrs. Suzanne W. Gachukia-Opembe being the Chairperson while the Patron is the Dean of the Ambassadors in Ireland Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo who is Papal Nuncio in Ireland.
The event was attended by H.E Ambassador Richard Opembe and Kenya Embassy staff. Other Foreign Heads of Missions based in Ireland were also in attendance. Also present at the event was the Lord Mayor of Dublin City Mícheál MacDonncha.
The guest of honour was Ireland’s First Lady Sabina Higgins.
The ICB is a voluntary fundraising organisation of the Diplomatic Corps in Dublin. It is supported by 50 or more Embassies and friends in the local community. This years supported charities were; Blanchardstown Centre Independent Living, Children in Hospital Ireland, Dogs for the disabled, Inner City Help for the Homeless, Longford women’s Link and Village Counselling Service
Hundreds joined the Diplomatic Corps to a fun filled and colourful day with exhibitions of culture and traditions from different countries, selling different items from their counties to raise funds for Irish Charities. There were performances, raffles draws, amazing prizes as well as meeting the Ambassadors.
