Kenya Passports

The Kenya Government is now implementing a new e-Passport issuing system (from 1st September, 2017) as per International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICO) standards. The passport processing will be centrally done in Nairobi.

Please note that the current valid passport will be in use until 31st December, 2021 after which they will be rendered invalid.

The processing of the old generation Kenyan passport takes at least 8 weeks (or more).

PASSPORT 

Requirements for Renewing an Expired/Filled up passport;

  • Original Kenyan passport
  • Original Kenyan Birth certificate
  • Dully filled application form (Form 19)
  • €45 processing fee (only payable by postal order, bankers draft or company cheque)
  • Kenyan ID
  • 3 Passport size photographs (see note 2)

Requirements for minor (Below 18 years);

  • Original Child’s Birth certificate
  • Duly filled application form (Form 19)
  • Parental consent form
  • Both parents original passports
  • Both parents original birth certificates
  • The child’s foreign passports
  • €45 processing fee (only payable by postal order, bankers draft or company cheque)
  • Kenya ID (If available)
  • 3 passport photographs (see note 2)

Requirements for replacing a lost/stolen passport;

    • Applicant must submit a Garda incident report form
    • An affidavit of support declaring the passport has been lost/stolen. Garda report serial number quoted on the affidavit
    • Copy of lost/stolen passport (If available)
    • Original Birth certificate
    • Duly filled application for (Form 19)
    • €110 processing fee ( only payable by postal order, bankers draft or company cheque)
    • Kenyan ID (If available)
    • 3 passport size photographs (see note 2)

Note 1:

  • For postal applications, include a pre-paid self-addressed return courier envelope (it should have a tracking number)
  • Applicants holding passports from other countries and have not declared dual nationality, must first do so before applying for renewal or replacement of passport
  • The €45 processing fee is for 32 pages passport (A series). Other options include €60 fee for 48 pages passport (B series) and €75 fee for 64 pages passport (C series)

Note 2:

Clear photographs – they should not be blurred nor have a dark hue, all facial features should be clearly outlined as follows:

  • Have a full face and both ears showing
  • Be taken against a white background
  • Be without shadows in the background
  • No smiling or laughing
  • Be taken without spectacles
  • Size of the face should be 2.5 (two and a half) inches by 2 inches
  • Weaves and hair should not cover the forehead or the rest of the face
  • Decent photograph – ladies should not be wearing strapless tops
  • Attach two photographs
